Finding Courage to live in Uncertainty and Grow
The purpose found in spiritual awareness is not fixed and static. As people develop and transform, they may change their perception of purpose. Such fluidity may be disturbing, particularly in societies that focus on assurance and predictability. But spiritual awareness is that uncertainty is not a defect, it is the normal course of development.
With the acceptance of uncertainty, individuals are always ready to learn new things and discover possibilities. They get to believe in the way things are unfolding in life instead of strictly sticking to predestined results. This receptivity lets the purpose evolve naturally, through experience, contemplation, interior sense.
The aspect of growth can be uncomfortable, can lead to loss or can be challenging. Spiritual consciousness makes them look at such experiences as lessons rather than failures. Hard situations may expose the unseen excellencies, define values and increase the compassion. In this perspective, even misery can help to make the purpose more important.
Purpose Beyond the Individual Self
When the level of spiritual awareness heightens, most individuals start to feel purpose to be more than individual gratification. They understand that their lives are related to the wider social, ecological and spiritual systems. This broadened view promotes duty and care.
Other possible purposes outside of self include a mission towards social justice, environmental sustainability or healing of the community. It can also be one related to the cultivation of future generations or conservation of cultural knowledge. Whenever the purpose is embedded in this broader understanding, the action acquires a timeless quality and prestige.
The increase of this purpose does not exclude individual happiness or aspiration. Instead, it places them in a larger framework, in which personal self-realization and social good are perceived as complementary and not competing interests.
