The freedom often brings with it forgiveness as well. A spiritually conscious individual knows that even when he or she harbors hatred, the hatred is ultimately harmful to the person who is holding it. Forgiveness is not the same as forgetting or tolerating abuse or injustice. It involves letting go of the emotional shackles which hold the heart captive to old hurts. This can be a prolonged process but is an important part of the healing and liberation.
Gratitude is also enriched through awakening. There are numerous people living their lives with only one thing in mind: what they don’t have. Then the awakened person starts to value what is already there: breath, existence, relationships, learning, beauty, and even learning from adversity. Gratitude turns all things into a joy that leads to greater satisfaction with life.
However, remember spiritual awakening is not always about being happy. Indeed, the awakened person becomes more attuned to the suffering of the world when awakened. May experience grief at the sight of injustice, violence, exploitation and environmental destruction. But they do not numb and cynic, they try to respond with awareness and compassion.
This is the balance between awareness and compassion, which is crucial. Without compassion, awareness can turn into coldness of intellect. Unaware compassion can turn to emotional overload. The two key elements of spiritual maturity are clarity and love.
Control to trust is another significant change that happens in waking up. Most people try to control everything in life, as they fear uncertainty. Spiritual awakening brings out that the boundaries of control are revealed. Though effort and responsibility are still important, the awakened individual learns to give up what is out of their control. This is not a defeat, it is wisdom. It helps you to live naturally and without the constant worry and resistance that comes with trying to control life.
It is common with many instances of spiritual awakening that creativity comes along. The more people are free from fear and conformity, the more they will express themselves in their true selves. Art, music, writing, dance, and innovation are used as means of deepening the truth, rather than as performance or validation.
Most importantly, spiritual awakening draws people toward Love, not just romantic love but a more profound love that is from Presence, Compassion, Truth and Connection. It’s not possessive or conditional. It is about seeing the humanity and holiness in every person and thing.
Spiritual Awareness is a conscious way of living. To look beyond the veil and to be fully present in life. It is to acknowledge darkness and beauty, to not be overwhelmed by either. It is to be open to stretching, the truth, humility and compassion even when it makes you uncomfortable.
Being awakened spiritually does not make one superhuman. It does not cover up mistakes, remove obstacles, or ensure absolute peace. Instead, it changes one’s relationship with life. Awakened person is more honest, more here, more compassionate, closer to reality.
Ultimately, the spiritual awakening is not about getting rid of the world but about how to live in it with wisdom and awareness. It’s from being unconscious to conscious, from being afraid to being understanding, from being fragmented to being connected. This is not just for monks, gurus or mystic. Each and every human being has potential for awakening, each and every human being has the capacity to be conscious.
The journey can be challenging, complicated, and deeply personal but it can also be very transformative. To awaken spiritually is to start to perceive the life is not just a sequence of events to survive, but to comprehend, develop, love and become alive.
Pure light and infinite love be with us!
